Induction of Liver Cirrhosis and Varicocele in a Mouse Model

My research at the GeneIran Research Institute focused on developing a reliable mouse model for studying liver cirrhosis and varicocele. This project involved performing animal surgeries to induce both conditions, followed by the application of histological techniques to prepare and stain tissue samples. The primary goal was to establish a reproducible model that could be used to observe the pathological effects of disease progression and to effectively assess potential therapeutic interventions by analyzing the resulting pathological signs in the colored tissues.

Genotyping of Polymorphisms in Schizophrenia Patients Using GAP-PCR

My research focused on identifying genetic markers that could differentiate between treatment-responsive and treatment-resistant schizophrenia patients. This was achieved by using GAP-PCR (Guaranteed Amplification Polymorphism PCR) to genotype specific polymorphisms. My work involved preparing solutions and buffers, as well as agarose gels for electrophoresis. The project also included designing primers for polymorphism detection and then conducting GAP-PCR assays on blood samples collected from patients. This work aimed to provide a genetic basis for predicting a patient’s response to treatment.

Optimization of Plant Tissue Decellularization Methods

While traditional tissue engineering often relies on synthetic scaffolds, there’s a significant need for cost-effective, natural alternatives that are both sustainable and biocompatible. My research at Shahid Beheshti University focused on addressing this gap by optimizing plant tissue decellularization methods to create natural, plant-based scaffolds. This work involved a comparative analysis and evaluation of different decellularization techniques to determine the most suitable methods for various plant tissues. The results were then examined using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), providing detailed insights into the structural integrity and success of the decellularization process. Ultimately, this project aimed to develop more accessible materials for tissue engineering applications.

Detection of COVID-19 by Real-Time PCR

My research focused on the detection of COVID-19 in clinical samples using Real-Time PCR. The primary objective was to accurately identify COVID-19-infected samples from oropharyngeal swabs. This involved designing specific probes, synthesizing cDNA from the viral RNA, and analyzing the amplification results using CFX Maestro software to confirm the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
